widgetsplus.com Add a Customizable Google+ Widget to Your WebsiteBeing on Google+ during its infancy is exciting! I’m always amazed at the techies’ ingenuity on the Social Media platforms. I’ve discovered a very smart Google+ widget for your WordPress site by Chris Kanger.

Adding this new Google+ widget to your website or blog will make it easy for your site visitors to add you to their circles so you can build your relationship with them. If you aren’t on Google+ yet I highly recommend joining sooner than later. If you need an invite just send your Gmail address to me here so I can trigger an invite for you.

The big plus of the new widget from widgetplus.com is that it is customizable.

You can change the sizes, font, colors, title text and even the size and color of the button so the widget blends with your site design. You can also include the feed of your public posts.

Once you have selected the settings that are going to look best for you, just click on the big orange “Get code” button and preview your selection. Then it’s a copy and paste job into your text widget, if you are on WordPress, save and there you go! Ready to have lots more potential clients or customers added you to their Google+ circles.

How did I get Guy Kawasaki to autograph the cover of his latest book for me? Or is the question: how did Guy Kawasaki get me to post a photo of his latest bestseller on his Facebook Page and write a post about it?

TinaCookwithEnchantment400 Guy Kawasakis Enchanting Social Media Strategy The answer is enchantment.

Yep, that’s me beaming. Well wouldn’t you if Guy Kawasaki autographed your copy of his newest bestseller Enchantment with “Resisting you is futile!”

How did Guy put together this super smart Social Media strategy?

It all started with a webinar hosted by the fabulous Facebook guru Mari Smith, my mentor. During the webinar Guy mentioned if we’d like a personally autographed copy of Enchantment to go to this page: http://www.guykawasaki.com/enchantment/cover/. We had to promise to post a picture of ourselves with a copy of the book on Guy’s Enchantment Facebook Page and he’d send us a new personalized cover.

What a brilliant idea! True to his word, Guy posted me a new cover with his autograph and power message. Amazon delivered the book. I put the two together and viola!

googlepluslogo300px Worth Joining Google+ Now?

With the brand new Google+ open to the public for just over two weeks and officially still in “Field Trial”, is now the time for you to jump aboard? Yes, yes, yes! If you haven’t yet.

No Time-wasting, No Distracting Apps

Google+ is like Facebook for adults. You don’t have to waste time writing requests to be friends. You can follow a person and it’s their choice if they want to connect with you or not. There are no distracting apps. (What a relief.) How much time have you wasted deleting noisy apps from your wall or finding out how to block them?

On Google+ you can get set up quickly and straight into connecting and sharing.

Here’s where you can join by signing in with your Google account:  http://tina.bz/SignUpGooglePlus

Complete Your Google+ Profile

It’s immediately noticeable that the vast majority of the early adopters have presentable, friendly profile photos uploaded. No animals, no babies. (We’ve learned something after over three years on the Social Platforms.) Entering Google+ was like walking into a buzzing conference room full of colleagues, many I’d lost contact with in the Facebook frenzy of acquiring friends. The conversation had started, mainly about Google+, and I could dip and out as my schedule permitted. In the last two weeks everyone in my main Social Network jumped aboard.

Your Google profile photo will appear in the Google Search Results too, when you share. So first “to-do” is to complete your profile and upload a great, friendly, personable photo of you to greet your old buddies and your new ones.

Sharing on the Web, Like Sharing in Real Life

The Google+ tag line is: “… makes sharing on the web like sharing in real life.”  Larry Page, CEO of Google, reminded us of their goal yesterday. Google+ is designed to share. So if you want to share your good content, this is where you need to be active. It’s that simple.
